Social Work
During my time in school, I discovered a strong passion for Skateboarding. The joy that it brought me led me to coach others and encourage its practice. I started working for the YMCA Org. in Australia, giving lessons, working at events and in the shop.
Thanks to these experiences, I found a job at Bowl-Park, a company that administers skateparks and runs big events in Santiago, Chile. There, I met my future partners who founded Skatesencia, where we focused on sharing the essence of skateboarding. Skateboarding as a tool for education and self-expression.
Skatesencia was a place where I learned to direct, communicate, form and elaborate a personal essence within myself and with others—skateboarding, forever, as the foundation of my philosophy. Skateboarding has been the tool which carries me through life.
I believe in personal growth through collective happenings and education.
My experience in working with Skateboarding has given me a strong sense of teamwork, leadership, and communication. Understanding how to solve problems, work in tight schedules and think outside the box. It has made me an example for younger generations, reminding me to see through a kid’s lens and giving me the responsibility to teach respect for all and everything around us. As a social organisation, we aimed to demonstrate our understanding of moral values and public spaces, helping build a public community where everyone can express themselves. I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue a social career based on sharing and receiving knowledge through a passion that will continue to inspire me in everything I do. Forming part of my discipline, my sport and my philosophy.
