A Collection of Poems 2016-2026

In and Out of Solace is a poetry book, or perhaps a collection of fragments that has gradually become one. It is an ongoing work in progress, bringing together writings created between 2016 and 2026, alongside photographs (series: Shadows Don’t Collide/People Disappear), memories and stories collected throughout the years.

The book traces a period of growing from adolescence into adulthood through a life shaped by movement. From Australia to Chile, Italy, and eventually Berlin, each place becomes a different chapter of experience — not simply as a geographical location, but as a reality in which I had to learn how to exist, adapt and understand myself again.

I present a linear autobiography that transmutes between past, present and future. In and Out of Solace brings together fragments of thought, poetry, photographs and memories. Some writings are intimate and reflective, others are rooted in specific places, relationships or moments that have remained with me forever. Together, they form a portrait of a person changing over time, often without realising that the change was happening.

The book is an attempt to preserve that process honestly: the confusion of being young, the intensity of becoming an adult, the excitement of starting again somewhere new, and the loneliness that can accompany it. It is about the things we carry with us when we move, and the things we leave behind without knowing whether we will ever return to them.

The title In and Out of Solace comes from this constant movement between comfort and discomfort. Every new place can offer a sense of belonging, but that feeling is never entirely permanent. To move is to repeatedly find a temporary solace and then step outside of it again — to become unfamiliar with your surroundings, your relationships and sometimes even yourself.

Across ten years, the writings document this cycle of leaving and arriving, belonging and alienation, remembering and forgetting. The book becomes a space where these different versions of myself can exist alongside one another.

In and Out of Solace is ultimately an attempt to hold onto the experience of becoming — to gather the scattered pieces of ten years of living, moving and writing, and to see what they reveal when placed together.
