Overview
Charlotte narrates the story of a dream I had, where two light beings travelled around the earth, searching for a home. The two light beings clashed into each other by accident, leaving prints inside each other’s souls; as they both lived similar experiences in their physical forms, their connection got stronger. As these forces travelled, they first became a tree; then, after the tree was cut down by people, their souls transformed into bunnies, which, like many prey animals, tried to survive. And so the two bunnies made it their goal to escape the forest in which they lived by jumping into a nearby cargo train. As they find each other in the train, they join forces again and give birth to a grey bunny, ‘Charlotte’, which was born on a moving train on the way to a brighter future. Charlotte is the symbol of migration and the will to take a new opportunity, with all its good and bad things.

Understanding The Story
The story is mainly broken down into four parts: the introduction to the light beings and how they work. The first life form that made the separation of the light being (the story of the old tree). The story of the two bunnies who lived on opposite sides of the tracks. And the adventure in the different train wagons that makes the bunnies realise their love potential, finally finding each other and transforming into Charlotte. Each act is a different stage of a story that talks about the growth of our inner characters, both filled with different energies that make up our personality. Charlotte symbolises the power one has through the process of migration, having experienced both positive and negative things. Charlotte is born in a moving train, as a symbol for the drive that is born through the act of migrating to a new home. This idea comes from my experience with overcoming both positive and negative feelings of migrating throughout my whole life, always being on the move and adapting to each “wagon” that represents a different reality. And so for me, Charlotte, or each bunny, represents a sort of archetype that lives inside each one of us. The idea of Charlotte came from a dream I had of seeing “light beings”, or rather “souls”, fly around the earth with different colours, defining themselves based on the energies given by already existing souls. And so, after the thought of creating a comic, I wanted to implement my dream ideas into a story. This story has many characteristics from my own life, as well as depicting our society and patriarchal system. That’s why the bunnies also don’t have genders, are rather, non binary. Making them relatable to anyone that identifies with their attributes rather than their gender. The idea for the name Charlotte came from a song by Hope Sandoval with the same name. It gave me a feeling that my character had to own that name, as well as some characteristics of the story.

Why Charlotte?
Charlotte narrates the story of the living love that communicates through all beings, making its way into providing for us, helping us overcome our difficulties in our material world. It is a statement, a communication of a fight, and a will to change the perspective of love, transcending all beings alive, from elements like earth, wind, water and fire to plants, animals and humans.
A love that is like a language through the search for our individual selves.
